Report for time candidates take to complete items and exams
A report on time taken would be useful at two levels. Administrators could find out how long it takes for candidates to complete an exam, giving insights into the timing of their exams. For example, if a report found that candidates in a m/c exam submitted 30 minutes before the end of the exam then the time allowed could be reduced or the items could be increased, improving content validity.
Secondly, at item level it would be useful for exam writers. Getting an average idea of how long candidates spend on each item would enhance our understanding of how the candidates encounter our items. If candidates are taking a long time to complete an item, then the value of the item should be increased, or vice versa. For single best answer items, it is assumed that time taken and item difficulty is positively related; a time analysis could point out those items that buck this trend.
Being able to get a report on time would be a useful tool for administrators and item writers.

Bron ChandlerWe have found that time is registered for exams with MWQs and SBAs together. But not for an exam with JUST SBA questions.
Try Exam > View Standard > Candidates, find candidate and click View marks.
We suggest that the views be aligned and standardized to show time taken for BOTH types.
We are interested in providing Candidates with strategies on exam time management and topics that are more challenging for them.
By analysing how much time they are spending on certain questions, we can assist appropriately. The SBA exam currently has no data for us.
