Allow minor content edits while retaining the data linked to that version
Creating a new version of an item in risr/assess impacts a number of things, for example both the item statistics and the Ebel judging relate to a specific version and this is therefore no longer available when a new version is created.
In many instances an item may need a minor change to punctuation/spelling or other aspects that in no way impacts the fundamentals of a question.
It would be useful if it was possible to create a “minor revision” of a question without changing the version number and therefore would not lose any data that was related to that version specifically. We would still want to see an audit log for an edits made.

Harish MergedCurrently item history only shows when that particular version of the item was used but we routinely update items for minor changes and then it looks like that item has not been used before - this is misleading and unhelpful
It would be useful to add to that page an additional section of when that item (any version) has been used before in item sets.
Similalry in the itemset page, there is the option to exclude items that appear in other item sets though again this works only if the version matches - this should again have option to run this for the item (any version) for it to have much use/point . -

Sean CogswellThis amendment is absolutely crucial to ensure the accuracy of statistics on questions that have had minor changes. A small tick box to allow the version to stay the same or the stats to be carried over to the new version should be a straight forward addition; thus keeping the integrity and continuity of the statistical analysis.
