Ability to sort items in a user field

Currently, items cannot be sorted in a discrete or discrete (multiple) field. Items are added to a list in the order they were entered. New items appear at the bottom and cannot be rearranged for better positioning, such as alphabetically.
The improvement would enable sorting and controlling the order of items.
